About the event

Presentation will focus on substance use and misuse prevention in youth and families: Prevention strengthens protective factors and reduces risk factors in individuals, families, schools, communities, and society.


Luz D. Mosquera, M.Ed. BSW, APS.

 Luz D. Mosquera holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a Master’s of Science in Community Education and Development. Luz is passionate about helping disadvantaged parents to improve their parenting skills, becoming their best selves to ensure that children grow up in a healthy and loving environment. For the past 24 years, Luz has served as the Strengthening Families Program Coordinator at Volunteers of America TX, Senior Program Specialist with the former ESCAPE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER, and is currently part of the prevention program of Santa Maria Hostel as the Parent Educator for the Strengthening Families Program.
