This presentation provides an overview of the national Overdose Response Strategy (ORS), which is a unique public health/public safety partnership between the CDC Foundation and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program aimed at combatting the devastating effects of opioid overdoses/poisoning deaths on the United States. Specific to the work of the Houston ORS team through multiple federal-, state- and local-level partnerships, Dr. Romain-Harrott will also discuss programmatic goals, projects, activities and overdose-related data.
Dr. Melissa A. Romain-Harrott is a Public Health Analyst for the CDC Foundation's national Overdose Response Strategy and located in Houston, TX. Her career spans over two decades, amalgamating academic and professional experiences across various domains, initially venturing into special education, inclusion, research on reading disabilities and interventions, but finally entering into the field of substance use and overdose prevention.
